It is with a heavy heart, and perhaps a glass of Cabernet, that we say goodbye to Christine "Chriss" Doyle Miller, who left us on August 16, 2025. Born in Bakersfield, California on July 9, 1945, she was a true Bakersfield native who graduated from East High Class of '63. Chriss eventually made her way to the Bay Area, where she finally settled in the heart of wine country, Sonoma. There, she lived out her days with her feline companions, Bubbles and Bob. A dedicated professional, Chriss spent 20 years at Bank of America before finding her true calling as an Administrative Services Tech for the Marin County Department of Health Services-Children's Mental Health. She retired in 2017, ready to embrace the good life. And embrace it she did. Chriss was a woman who knew the importance of a good vintage and the restorative power of a spirited water aerobics class at Sonoma Fit. She is reunited with her parents, Bakersfield Municipal Court Judge Doyle Miller and Janette Miller, and her two younger sisters, Valerie and Jeanie Miller. Chriss was a devoted aunt and great-aunt, and her memory will be cherished by her surviving nieces, Daunya Richfield, Mercedes Thayer, and Leona Miller, and her nephew, Steve John Mondini, along with all her great-nieces and nephews. Chriss will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences and for their contributions to her "Wine in the Afterlife Fund." It seems fitting that even in passing, Chriss's spirit could lighten the load for those she left behind. To honor Chriss, we invite you to do as she would have done: make a donation to your local animal shelter, plant some beautiful azaleas, and raise a glass of good wine. She'd love that.
