Christine Mulligan Obituary

Christine Carmel Rose Mulligan entered into eternal life on Sunday, September 28, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side.

Born in Philadelphia on February 3, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret L. (Padulo) Santoro.

Christine, known affectionately as "Chris," was a woman of deep Catholic faith. As a member of the Lay Augustinians, her spirituality was a guiding light throughout her life and a source of strength during her recent health challenges.

A proud graduate of Saint Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Chris pursued her calling in nursing with passion and excellence. She earned her nursing diploma from Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and later completed both her bachelor's and master's degrees at Russell Sage College. Her distinguished career included service at several area hospitals and culminated in her role as Director of Nursing for the New York State Department of Corrections. Chris found great joy in her Waterford, New York home that she and her husband lovingly built together. She was artistic, musically gifted (playing piano and singing) and an avid reader. Her passion, creativity and warmth enriched the lives of those around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, James M. Mulligan; her sisters Margaret Jaskot (Chick Jorgensen), Virginia Emmons (Dennis), and Victoria Stephens (Michael); her sisters-in-law Lori Tarnacki (Jerry), Peggy Pullyblank (James); her brother-in-law Daniel Mulligan (Julie) and her mother-in-law Marilyn Mulligan. Chris also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street, Waterford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the Mass.
