Christine Marie Slate, a beacon of love and generosity, was called home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on July 17, 1967, Christine's life was a testament to the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were blessed to know her.
Christine is preceded by her mother Helen Ann Prentiss, and survived by her devoted husband of many years, Jeb Slate, who found in her not just a partner for life but also a true companion in faith. Her father, Richard Coon, her stepmother Cindy, and her beloved brother, David Coon, will forever hold her memory in their hearts. The Slate and McKenzie families will miss her dearly, including her mother-in-law Cheryl McKenzie, father-in-law Jarett McKenzie, her loving daughter Rachel Withey, and her adored grandchildren Ariel, Sammy, Katie, Lorelei, and Jacob. Christine's spirit will continue to live on through the numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.
Professionally, Christine's career was as diverse as it was impactful. She began her journey working on military rockets at DRS, a role that showcased her meticulous nature and her commitment to her country. Later, she transitioned into loss prevention, serving with dedication at both Dillard's and Ross, where she was respected for her integrity and work ethic. Christine's final professional chapter was as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens, a decade-long tenure where she became a beloved member of her community, always serving with a smile and a kind word.
Christine's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. It guided her actions and was the source of her strength. Her kindness and generosity were a reflection of her devotion to living a Christ-centered life. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew her.
In her personal life, Christine's interests were as rich and varied as her career. She spent three transformative years in Japan as a teenager, where she embraced the culture and language, adding to the tapestry of her unique experiences. Her time there would become a cherished chapter in her life's story, often reflected upon with fondness and joy.
