Middlesex, VT
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Baker, age 59, who died peacefully at McClure Miller Respite House on July 21, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Chris was born in Burlington, VT, to Anna (Bradley) Baker and Ronald F Baker, Sr He grew up in nearby Westford, VT, and graduated from Essex High School.
Throughout Chris' life, he pursued many hobbies including ATV riding, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, photography, and golf. He enjoyed watching Nascar, the Boston Bruins, and never missed his Saturday morning cartoons.
Chris was very much a family man. His family always came first. He was fondly known in the family as "Mr. Fix It" since there were very few things that he could not build or make better. He loved watching his boys play hockey, lacrosse, and football. He also had a love of imparting his vast array of "useless" knowledge onto his sons.
Chris worked most of his life as an electrician, and while working for a number of companies, truly found his work home with Benoit Electric in Berlin, VT. He found a company that shared his values of quality work over the quantity of work that could be done. He found a company where his meticulous electrical knowledge could thrive and be recognized. The Baker family will be forever grateful to John and Pam Benoit for always being there during this incredibly difficult journey.
In October of 1999, Chris met the love of his life, Erica, in Burlington, VT. They were married on May 17, 2003, at Christ Episcopal Church in Montpelier near their Middlesex home. They shared many amazing years before cancer became a routine word in their home, and they began to fight together against this horrible disease.
We will forever appreciate our family, friends, and co-workers for all of the amazing support that has been given so freely. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Ugonma Chukwueke, Jennifer Stefanik, nurse Jessica, and the rest of the
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute team for the amazing care that was provided to Chris. Our thanks also go to the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice team and the McClure Miller Respite House for making Chris comfortable in his final days.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Erica; son, Christopher; son, Joseph and his fiancée Jasmine; son, Andrew and his girlfriend, Maryssa; son, Adam; mother, Anna Baker; brother, Ronald Baker; mother-in-law Jean; brother-in-law Brent, and many other extended family members and friends, which he very much enjoyed spending time with. He was predeceased by his father, Ronald (Ronnie), and his father-in-law, Michael Grady.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, July 27th at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 28th at the Christ Episcopal Church, 64 State Street,
