Bennett – Christopher J. Age 84 of Yardley. On Thursday April 18, 2019 Loving Father of Lori Kumbat (Mike) of Florida, Sandy A. Senior (Chas) of Langhorne, Teresa Cavalier (Sean) of Levittown, and Karen Tiffany (Blain) of Ohio. Devoted grandfather of Christopher, Shawna, Michael, Kevin, Olivia, Chase, Britt, Shannon, and Kristin, Great-grandfather of Christopher, Joseph, Evan, Brandon, Eleanor, Ty, Tanner, and Austin, and Brother of Barbara Totten (the late Robert) of Hopewell, NJ. And the late Margaret Judge (Harry). Devoted partner of Donna Mohney. Chris was a 1952 graduate of Pennsbury H.S and a member of there sports Hall of Fame. He was also a lifetime carpenter. Family and friends are invited to Christopher's life celebration Wednesday between 10 &11:30AM followed by his service of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM from Dunn-Givnish of Langhorne 378 S. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Mary's Hospice www.stmaryhealthcare.org/palliativecare would be appreciated. www.lifecelebration.com Christopher was born to Margret and Christopher Henry Bennett in 1934, and was the older brother to Barbara and Margret"Judge". Chris grew up in "Woodside" in Lower Makefield Township. He attended Lower Makefield schools until they merged with Tullytown in 1948 and became known as Pennsbury School District. Chris's grandfather, Christopher James, bought their home in the 1860s where he worked as a blacksmith and continued that work with his son Christopher Henry. When the job as a blacksmith was no longer needed, the family built a gas station across the street from their home, which is now the site of the new Delorenzo's Pizza restaurant. Christopher's father also drove the first school bus for Pennsbury-it was #1 and had wooden benches for seats. Christopher and his 2 sisters often worked before school cutting asparagus for the local farmers. During his school days at Pennsbury, he played football, baseball, basketball, and was Sports Night captain in 1952. Chris was the first class to graduate from Pennwood, which is now a middle school, but at the time was a brand new high school for Pennsbury school district. His class had about 98 students-all who knew each other and always enjoyed getting together for many class reunions. Sadly, not too long after graduating high school, Chris and his sisters father passed away on Good Friday in !954. Chris worked as a carpenter and painter learning many of his skills from a very special friend Charlie "Doggie" Quill. Chris worked with 2 friends framing many of the houses in the new Levittown developments. The young men were extremely hardworking and could frame a house a day. Chris was then drafted into the Army and was stationed in Iceland. There he became a member of the rifle team and competed in several competitions. After serving two years in the Army Chris spent several years in the reserves and was discharged April 30th, 1963. Chris was married in 1960 to his wife Vija and had for daughters; Lori, Sandra, Teresa, and Karen. When raising their daughters together they bought a home in Levittown's section called Highland Park. At this time Chris spent a great deal of time helping to build Reedman's car dealership's showroom. The family enjoyed many happy times at the community pool and taking vacations to Long Beach Island in the summer and in the fall or winter would head to Shohola Falls in Pennsylvania's Pocono mountains. After several years in Highland Park, Chris and Vija bought a home in Woodside, where Chris grew up. The two spent many hours restoring an old home. The children now all attended Pennsbury High School as their father did. Chris continued to work as a carpenter, and in his free time he worked on restoring the home, shooting darts in a league and playing in a baseball league. Unfortunately Chris and Vija divorced after nineteen years of marriage and Chris moved back into his childhood home. Chris restored the home and enjoyed planting many vegetables-especially tomatoes. Chris then reunited with a childhood acquaintance. Donna Mohney, who he had a special relationship for 35 plus years. Chris's proudest accomplishments are all of the buildings he restored or built, being inducted into Pennsbury's Sports Hall of Fame, and raising four daughters who love and admire him greatly. He then went on to have 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grand children. Christopher was a simple man who enjoyed simple things, time with family, visiting with friends and reminiscing about the "Good Ole Days", gardening, listening to his country music and making recordings for his family. Christopher will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a wonderful man, admired and respected by so many. Rest in Peace, Dad, With Love, Your family
