Christopher Berry Brown

Christopher Berry Brown, of Steelville, MO, was born on Saturday, December 4, 1971, in Rolla, MO, to Jeanette Evelyn Brown. He passed away at Steelville Senior Living, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, at the age of 54 years and 21 days.
Chris was a lifelong resident of Steelville, MO, where he was known and loved by many. After the passing of his mother, Jeanette, when Chris was just eight years old, he went to live with his aunt, Rose Brown, whom he lovingly and graciously called "Mom." Under her care, Chris grew and thrived, surrounded by family and community.

Chris was a graduate of BW Robinson State School in Rolla, Missouri. From an early age, he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He enjoyed attending church and was a faithful member of Center Point Baptist Church, where his love for the Lord and joyful spirit was evident to all. One of his favorite expressions was a heartfelt "Hallelujah," reflecting his simple and sincere faith.

Chris had a deep love for the outdoors and nature. He found great joy in swimming in the river and throwing rocks, and he was well known at Brown's Canoe Rental, where his presence and smile were familiar to many. He was blessed with an incredible memory and never forgot a familiar face. He enjoyed looking through pictures, magazines, books, and baseball cards, and found comfort in watching television. Chris especially loved playing with dogs and never turned down his favorite food-cheeseburgers.

He could often be seen wearing his cowboy hat, a cherished gift made by his dear friends, Tiff and Wanda Knowles. That hat became a part of who he was, just like his warm smile and gentle presence.

To know Chris was to love him. He found happiness in the simple things in life and shared that joy freely with everyone around him. He will be remembered for his loving heart, strong faith, and the quiet yet powerful way he touched the lives of those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Brown Gregory; grandfather, Ralph "Treehouse" Brown; uncle, James Brown; aunts, Janet Isom, Dorothy Wilhite and Shirley Brakefield.
Chris is survived by his loving mother, Rose Brown of Steelville, MO; sisters, Mary Gregory of Clermont, FL, Regina Bacon and Billie Wilhite both of Steelville, MO and Jaime (Steve) Cornett of California, MO; uncles, James Isom of Rector, AR and Marvin Wilhite of Steelville, MO; aunt, Kathy Bolin of Rector, AR; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Matt Cook officiating. Burial was at Brown Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
