Christopher J Charland, 58, of Pleasant Valley, NY passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 21, 1965 to Peter and Lily Ann Charland. Christopher was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY and graduated Arlington High School in 1983. He married the love of his life, Carolyn A. Yergey on September 12, 1992 at Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church. Together they raised two children, Christopher J. Charland, Jr. and Amber Arletta Charland.
Christopher ran two successful businesses, CJ Masonry and C&C Builders, to which he poured his heart and soul into. He was a skilled mason, contractor, and businessman. Christopher loved to spend time outdoors and at the cabin he built from the ground up in Lake Luzerne with his family and friends. Camping, snowmobiling, fishing, riding his Harley, golfing and boating were some of his favorite pastimes. He could be found most weekend nights around a campfire with his family and friends listening to music he loved.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents; sister, Sue Gault; and mother-in-law Pat Yergey. He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Yergey) Charland, children; Christopher (Michaela Charland) and Amber (Ryan Mullins) of Pleasant Valley, NY, older brothers; Dr. James Charland (Charlann Charland), Patrick Charland (Hazel Charland), Timothy Charland (Barbara Charland), and identical twin brother; Matthew Charland (Jeannine Charland). He is also survived by his father-in-law Rusty Yergey, many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Following cremation, services will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church 1168 Route 55, Lagrangeville, NY 12540.
