Christopher "Chris" Engebretson, 43, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Sioux Falls.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, South Dakota. Pastor Chris Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank and will continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Christopher “Chris” Lee Engebretson was born on May 14, 1980, to Bruce and Dianne (Erp) Engebretson in Madison, MN. Chris was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD, and was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. He attended Big Stone school until 8th grade and later graduated from Ortonville High School with the class of 98’. He continued his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD where he met the love of his life, Rachel Tietjen. He graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in construction management. The couple moved to Omaha following graduation and Chris worked for Kiewit Construction for 14 years. Chris and Rachel were united in marriage on September 24, 2006, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD. They were blessed with their son, Bruce. Chris and Rachel lived in Atlanta, MO and Albuquerque, NM before making Sioux Falls home in 2016. Chris worked at Myrl and Roy’s Paving, Inc.
Chris was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. He loved spending time outdoors, especially going home to the farm where he worked on various projects. He also loved hunting, fishing, going to the races and golfing. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Chris will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife, Rachel Engebretson of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Bruce Engebretson of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Dianne Engebretson of Strandburg, SD; one sister, Chastity (Mike) Dolezal of Spicer, MN; one brother, Chad (Kristen) Engebretson of Clear Lake, SD; mother-in-law, Pam (Scott) Jackson of Milbank, SD; three brothers-in-law: Michael Tietjen of Milbank, SD and Jacob (Molly Rick) Jackson of Milbank, SD; Travis (Amanda) Tietjen of Milbank, SD; nieces and nephews: Michael (Hannah Wiedebush) Engebretson of Mansfield, SD; Alex Engebretson of Brookings, SD; Tory Engebretson of Clear Lake, SD; Derek Dolezal of Spicer, MN; Cole Dolezal of Spicer, MN; and Lennyn Jackson of Milbank, SD. He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Engebretson; his maternal grandparents: Charles and Irma Erp; and his paternal grandparents: Rector and Bernice Engebretson.
