Christopher “Chris” M. Starkey, 42, of Zanesville, died at 11:53 P.M. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born April 24, 1983, in Zanesville, a son of late Frederick Roy Starkey and his mother, Earlene Mobley. Chris devoted more than twenty-two years working as a field supervisor for Formation Cementing in the oil and gas industry. He was a hard worker and was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ. His faith showed most in his everyday life through kindness and laughter. Chris never met a stranger and had a larger than life personality with his quick wit, practical jokes, and ever present smile. He lit up every room. He loved to make people laugh and had a heart that welcomed everyone. Chris was a wonderful husband and father, a very proud “girl dad”, and as an animal lover he was a dedicated pet dad too. Chris’s loyalty and joy touched anyone that met him and he will be deeply missed by all that loved him.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of over seventeen years, Ashlee B. (Jasper) Starkey, whom he married July 12, 2008; his proudest accomplishments, his three girls, Saylor Starkey, Piper Starkey, and Harper Starkey; five fur-babies, Foxy, Coco, Katniss, Pumpkin, and Scout; two brothers-in-law, Jordan Jasper and Brady Jasper; nephew, Daxton Jasper; mother-in-law, Rae Anne Jasper; and father-in-law, Brian Jasper.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by three fur-babies, Bella, Bambi, and Bailey.
