Christopher Maury Clark August 11, 1961 – February 7, 2026 Mount Pleasant, North Carolina

Christopher Maury Clark, 64, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus to be reunited with his mother and father for eternity after complications from Open Heart Surgery.

Born in Washington, D.C., the family moved to Charlottesville, VA, at age 2 when his father was transferred for work. In 1971, the family settled permanently in Raleigh, NC.

After graduating from William G. Enloe High School, Class of 1980, Chris joined the Army National Guard, trained as a tank operator, and served proudly for four years before deciding to pursue his other love, which was art.

He was a talented artist and those that knew his artwork were astounded by the creativity he possessed. He was a great Muralist and worked on several murals in Cary and Raleigh at notable restaurants. He also worked on numerous Caricature Maps for various cities and attractions throughout North and South Carolina. He also gained his associates degree from Johnston Tech in Computer Graphics, which brought him to do more in the Graphic Art world, but he did not care for the computer work and appreciated freelance artistry more.

He was quiet and shy until he got to know you and then his very outspoken and gregarious side came out, which his friends appreciate as part of who he was. He was quite the conspiracy theorist, but that came more from wanting the best for our Country which he loved and he wanted this world to be honest, fair, and kinder for everyone.

He lived in Raleigh most of his life, but most recently made his home in Mount Pleasant, NC. There, he spent his days helping his dear friends Joe Massey and wife Tabby, caring for their farm animals with the same calm, nurturing love he showed every creature he met. He just loved making sure they were all fed, watered, and warm in winter or cool in summer.

He always had a gentle way with animals which came honestly as our own father was a zookeeper in the early 1950's and started the very first Registered in home pet sitting business in Raleigh in 1987, which Chris admired.

His lifelong passion for firearms and the military led him to spend the past 20 years selling ammunition on the gun show circuit throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. He spent countless weekends there-often 50 or more each year-building a second family of dear friends who shared laughter, stories, and endless conversations with him. He loved talking to customers about the military, guns, politics, and every current issue even of the world and he had a vast knowledge of these subjects and could talk your ear off if you let him!

Most of all, he had a huge heart for people. He was very generous, always thinking of others first and putting himself last, and that selfless warmth was one of the very best things about him. He loved his family and especially his nieces and nephews. He also selflessly helped his mother care for his father who was struck with Alzheimer's in 2006, allowing his mother to continue working as a nurse. We were so grateful that his schedule with the gun shows allowed him to be there during the week.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Myrick (2010) and Mary Clark (2018).

He is survived by his twin brother Steve Clark; niece Alyssa Clark Ayala and nephew Michael Clark; his sister Laura Clark Hamill and husband Burley, along with their daughter's Victoria Hamill of the home and Heather Barber and her husband Shane of Myrtle Beach, SC, their son's Lucas and Jaxon Barber; his half-brother Gregory Clark and wife Heather of Seattle, WA, and their son Adrian Clark; his half-brother Rick Clark and wife Lorraine of Cape Coral, Fla, and their son Myrick Clark III; his Aunt Pat Cresta-Savage of Annapolis, MD; and many beloved cousins, too numerous to mention.

We would like to also thank his MANY friends within the gun show circuit who made Chris a part of their family and loved him like a brother.

In keeping with Chris's wishes, there will be no formal viewing or funeral service. Instead, his loved ones will gather for a Celebration of Life to honor the wonderful brother, uncle, and friend he was.

Please join us to share some food, drink, fellowship, and stories in true Chris fashion. Wear your best jeans and a polo style shirt in his memory.

Date: Wednesday, February 25, 2026 - Time: 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. We will plan to have sharing words for anyone that wants to share memories of Chris.
