Jake is the cherished son of Bryon and Marianne Beck. His light shone brightest as a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Avery Rose Beck, and as a loving fiancé to Mary Smart. He also loved his loyal dog, Bella, and his trio of cats, Milhouse, Carl, and Lenny, who added further joy and amusement to his home life.
A graduate of Weddington High School's Class of 2003, Jake's passion for motors led him to attend Central Piedmont Community College, where he studied Automotive Technology. He moved on to become the Vice President of Top Choice Counters, Inc., where he and his longtime coworker/friend, Tony Cauble, excelled in fabrication and installation of granite, stone, and solid surface countertops for 21 years.
Jake was an accomplished bicyclist, celebrated for his awards and records. He possessed a deep appreciation for music. Whether strumming the guitar or keeping rhythm on the drums, Jake loved all kinds of music. Jake's creative spirit inspired him in his award-winning home-brewed beer and spirits, as well as his culinary masterpieces on his smoker/grill. He also skillfully crafted wood, stone, metal, and even deer antlers into works of art, used around his home, each project a testament to his attention to detail and creativity.
The Heart of Gold, a benefit planned by his Homebrew Club for this coming April, was aptly named in honor of Jake's generous spirit. He was totally committed, giving one hundred percent to all his endeavors, from his crafts to his relationships. Jake's constant laughter, his bright smile, and his way of finding humor in every situation became his signature, making every family gathering a fun event.
Jake's love extended beyond his family to his wide circle of friends and the community at large. He had a servant's heart, and those who knew Jake were inspired by his loving nature, his kindness, and his thoughtful approach to life.
His passing leaves a meaningful mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of experiencing his laughter and light. Jake's story is one of a life well-lived, filled with passion, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to bring happiness to those around him. While he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit continues to resonate in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
