Christopher T. Colo

ORANGE, MA - Christopher T Colo, 64, of Dexter St, Orange passed away on March 1st peacefully at his home after a period of declining health due to Alzheimer's dementia.

He was born in Athol on January 7, 1961, and was the son of Marie (Sienkiewicz) and H Thomas Colo.

Christopher graduated from Athol High School in 1979. He attended University of Lowell (now UMass Lowell) where he studied electrical engineering. Chris worked part time through high school and college for Stan's Autobody towing vehicles on nights and weekends. He was very talented in electronics and anything mechanical and he worked at Teledyne before starting his own business, MC Electronics. He worked for many years servicing and installing tanning beds and repairing gym equipment throughout New England, NY, and Pennsylvania. One of his most notable jobs was installing a tanning bed at the home of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

In 1991, Christopher's father purchased the Athol Glass Building and Christopher went into partnership with him opening and operating Advanced Auto, doing mechanical and collision repairs. He also served as president of the Massachusetts Auto Body Association and was a vocal advocate for consumers.

In his free time Christopher enjoyed playing ice hockey in Ashburnham, riding his snowmobile and ATV, camping, country music, and line dancing with the Country Kickers. He also loved vacations on Cape Cod, including off-roading to Race Point and going to see Jim Plunkett. When he was 11 years old, he went on an epic cross-country motorcycle adventure of several weeks with his dad across the US. Sights and stops included the Utah salt flats, Bear Tooth Pass, MT, Rattlesnake Hill, SD, and Big Sur, CA, Tijuana Mexico and everywhere in between. Chris embarked on many road trips with his children and even ventured to South Korea to visit his sister, Andrea.

Christopher was predeceased by his parents H Thomas and Marie Colo.

He is survived by his son Matthew Colo (Xiaoyan) of Painted Post, NY, a daughter Ashley Brouillard (Jon) of Ashburnham and two stepchildren, Rachel and Stephen Gagnon. He also leaves four grandchildren, Avery and Spencer Colo, and Khloe and Joey Brouillard and two sisters Christina Hunt (George) of Orange and Andrea Plaskiewicz of Surry, NH as well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves his "almost brother" Peter Carter, who was Chris's steady and compassionate caregiver during his long illness. Peter's wonderful gift of care allowed Chris to remain at his home until his passing. The family would also like to thank and recognize the kindness and care given to Chris by Alexa Bairos over the last 8 months and Care Central VNA hospice.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 11 a..m. at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange.

Interment will be at a later date in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
