Christopher Daley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casper Funeral & Cremation Services on Nov. 14, 2024.
It is with great sadness the family of Christopher (Chris) F. Daley, 73, a long-time resident of West Roxbury, announces his sudden passing on November 2, 2024. Loving husband of Carol J. Daley and devoted father of Thomas (Tom) C. Daley; Son of the late Francis G. Daley and Miriam G. (Rines) Daley; Brother of Pamela M. (Daley) Koons of Poteau, OK and Margaret (Karen) Daley of La Mesa, CA; brother-in-law of Ernest (Ernie) R. McCloskey and his wife Kathleen (Kathie) of Fitchburg; sister-in-law of Anne M. Doyle and her husband James (Jim) Doyle of Dedham, and sister-in-law of Barbara J. Rancourt of Brewster. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving cousins. Predeceased by father-in-law, Ernest (Ernie) R. McCloskey and mother-in-law, Lillian A. (Diechert) McCloskey. Predeceased by brothers-in-law, Thomas (Tom) J. McCloskey and James (Jim) E. Koons.
Chris graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso, TX in 1969 and then later joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he was stationed in Boston for eight years and honorably discharged in 1981. Chris also attended Northeastern University and was a long time employee of The Boston Globe as a Senior Computer Technician.
Chris was an amateur artist and photographer, two passions he thoroughly enjoyed and pursued even more vigorously after retiring. Chris loved nature and enjoyed observing wildlife, taking photographs whenever possible. His favorite place to be was in Goshen, NH on Rand Pond, where he and Carol purchased a cottage in 1987 and enjoyed many years of relaxation and fun times while nature walking, kayaking, swimming, skiing, etc. and creating wonderful memories with family and friends. Sadly in early 2024, Chris was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He confronted his diagnosis with courage and dignity, enduring both surgery and treatment. Chris' passing will be felt by many and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 21st, at St. Anne Church, 90 W.Milton Street, Boston, at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, at 1:15 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the burial service for Chris and a Celebration of Life luncheon to follow at The Sagamore, 1131 Sandwich Rd #6A, Sagamore.
Donations may be made in Chris's memory to The Lustgarten Foundation (https://lustgarten.orgl?form=give), a privately funded foundation for the sole purpose of pancreatic cancer research.
