Christopher Farrell

Christopher "Chris" Farrell, born on May 29, 1987, in San Angelo, Texas, to Lisa Tomes and Dan Farrell, left this world on January 27, 2026, in Newark, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Chris was known for his big heart and his ability to make everyone feel valued. He enjoyed connecting with others and made it a priority to keep up with friends and family. He often brightened a day with one of his signature Chris compliments. He had a passion for online gaming, not just for the thrill of the game, but for the friendships they fostered.

One of Chris's greatest joys was being a big brother to Patrick Tomes, who preceded him in death on September 8, 2025. Their bond was unbreakable, and Chris carried that love with him always.

A proud graduate of St. Rita School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio, Chris was a strong advocate for individuals living with disabilities and a believer in the importance of kindness for all, regardless of ability or background. His passion for promoting compassion and understanding brought light to many lives, including his family, friends, and coworkers at McAlister's Deli on Harrison Ave. on the West Side of Cincinnati in Cheviot. Chris's legacy will continue to inspire others to treat everyone with the dignity and respect.

Chris is survived by his mother, Lisa J. Tomes of Newark; father, Dan (Stacy) Farrell of Spring Creek, Nevada; great aunts and uncles, Sherman Tomes, Truman (Julie) Tomes, Cathy Smith, Alfred (Barbara) Hewey, Mary Jane Smith, Raymond Wilkins, and Darlene Sorric; aunts and uncles, Pam (Doug) Jones, Doug (Leanne) Farrell, Deal (Morreene) Farrell, Codi (John) Graham, Gayle Farrell, David Farrell, and Amber (Nate) Kane; first cousins, Cale (Kristen) Jones and Krystal (Josh) Somers; and many more cousins and extended family members.

Chris was preceded in death by his beloved brother Patrick Tomes; grandparents, Newman and Angelina Tomes and Boyd D. Farrell; great-grandparents, Daphne Tomes, Edgar Tomes, and Angelina Shippee; and aunt, Deanna (Bryan) Carruba.

A celebration of life for Chris will take place on Wednesday, February 11 at 4 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 4905 Jacksontown Rd., Newark, Ohio 43055. Friends and family are invited to attend and share cherished memories of Chris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio – Newark, whose care and compassion brought comfort to Chris in his final days.
