Christopher La-Mar Ferguson

1962 - 2021

Christopher La-Mar Ferguson (Chris), age 59 of Tyngsborough, passed away on October 16th, 2021. Chris was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Sara Celestine Long (Ferguson). The youngest of two boys, Chris attended Limestone Elementary, Clyde Boyd Junior High School, Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma

Chris grew up on a farm, where he and his older brother Dwayne dedicated many hours to feeding the animals, working in the garden and harvesting fruit from the small orchard. Chris and his family were very active in several Baptist churches in Oklahoma. Dubbed "The Long Brothers", Chris and Dwayne would often sing a duet with the church choir while their mother played the piano and organ.

Chris had a talent and passion for drama, and he performed regularly in high school productions including Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man and Our Town. Later in his life, Chris' acting skills were rewarded with short spots in the movie RoboCop and the television show Peyton Place, as well as a leading role in a Boston production of Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye.

After exploring cities including Seattle and Washington, DC, Chris' adventuresome spirit took him from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. It was here that he met his beloved future wife, Holly Leggat. They married in June 2009 and their son Jordan arrived in 2010. Chris worked temporary jobs before landing at Covidien where he worked in compliance. Later Chris worked selling life insurance, while coaching flag football, volunteering for the Parent Teacher Organization at the public elementary school, and he was a member of the local Business Networking International.

Family and friends loved Chris for his generous spirit! He was notorious for his creative holiday gifts and beautiful birthday cakes. He could engage in dynamic and animated political discussions, as well as provide powerful and moving family graces. He had a deep and sincere devotion to family. Chris' tastes were eclectic. He enjoyed watching Star Trek as much as he did Oklahoma University football and passed along his passion for both film and football to Jordan, with whom he regularly shared this entertainment snuggled on the couch. Even as Chris' health challenges progressed, he remained engaged, grateful for his blessings, and adoring of Holly and Jordan. He will be missed for his commanding presence, his passion for conversation, his appreciation for a good party, and his deep love of family.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, MA 01879, on Friday, November 12th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Chris' life will take place immediately following in the Funeral Home and will be live streamed via the Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, the Ferguson family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made in Chris' name to "ILD Clinical and Translational Research Fund 227400" at Massachusetts General Hospital in support of interstitial lung disease research.
