Christopher Lawrence Fluharty

Christopher Lawrence Fluharty, 56, died on February 14th, 2023 in Lewistown, PA after a 17 month struggle with esophageal cancer. He was born June 4th, 1966 and raised in Easton, Maryland by his mother, Rebecca Lou Bauer (née Biery) and his stepfather Richard Bauer Sr. As a teenager he attended Queen Anne's High School, where he was an active member of Future Farmers of America (FFA). After graduating, he worked for many years as a carpenter and skilled tradesman. He had his first daughter, Kristi Lynn Scott (née Fluharty), in 1993 with his former wife Debbie Goslin. After meeting his current wife Sarah Fluharty, the two moved to Michigan where they had two children, Ruth and Jude Fluharty. They moved to Pennsylvania in 2019 so Christopher could be closer to his family in Maryland.
A self-described fighter (but with all the heart of a lover), Christopher is remembered kindly for his warm, giving nature. He was a hard worker and always happy to help others in whatever way he could, whether it be through rides home from work, financial assistance, or just plain words of encouragement. He could make friends with anyone he met and never failed to get a whole room belly-laughing. Christopher was a world-famous BS'er and could lure anyone into a witty punchline that would send them reeling. He loved animals, even once keeping a pet raccoon as a child, and was always able to earn their trust in record time. He was similarly great with children, with whom his gentle nature shone through. Whether it be something so big as a home renovation project or something so small as a quiet night watching Seinfeld, he found the joy and fun in every aspect of life. Even in the depths of his illness, he never once complained or drew attention to himself, instead focusing on all that was wonderful around him rather than what was difficult within. For his positive attitude, bright smile, and contagious laugh, he will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother Rebecca, his stepfather Richard, and his brother Matt. He is survived by his wife Sarah, his brother Benjamin, his three children Kristi, Ruth, and Jude, and his birth father Carl.
In lieu of a memorial service, his family asks that mourners instead focus on bringing his kindness, grace, and acceptance into their own lives, as that is the best possible memorial for Christopher's life and spirit.
