Christopher J. Herek

Christopher J. Herek was born on June 10th, 1963 and passed away on February 28th, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

He was the beloved son of Timothy and Barbara Herek in which he carried their loyalty, kindness, and resilient strength throughout his lifetime.

Chris was the proud father of Rennie Herek, who in the end was the light of his life and greatest achievement. He is also survived by his brothers: Timothy (Mariann) Herek, Mark Herek, and Brian (Tracey) Herek. While also leaving behind nieces and nephews who will remember him for his quirky sense of humor and warm heart.

Chris shared a lifelong bond with his cousin James Herek, who was not only family but was one of his best friends. Their friendship was the source of strength, laughter, and countless memories over the years.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude towards Ann Verhaeghe-Herek, Wendy Verhaeghe, and Vaughn Gauger for their compassion, care, and support over the last few months. A special thanks to anyone who played a role in treatment or care and especially the 3rd floor McLaren Bay Region Hospital for their compassion and kindness during Chris's final hours.

Chris will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet resilience, and the meaningful connections he formed with those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts of those who knew and loved him. A memorial will be planned at a later date.
