Dahl Funeral & Cremation ServiceChris Howell, 61, of Bozeman, passed away at his home November 13, 2025. Chris was born in Anahiem, California, but grew up in Grand Junction and Colorado Spring, Colorado. His parents were Robert(Bob) and Carol Howell.
He was a Latin Honors student in High School going to many Latin Conventions. He got an Associate of Arts degree in Radio from Pike's Peak College in Colorado Springs while working on a Broadcasting Degree.
In 1990 he transferred to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs as an Art Major. In 1994, he transferred to the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana ultimately as an Asian Studies Major. After getting his B.A. in Asian Studies, he found work in the dot.com industry. He and his wife Connie moved to Bozeman, Montana in August 2000 chasing the dot.com job market.
In his younger years, he was a manager at a Domino's Pizza, was also a cook at a dude ranch on Pikes Peak at Colorado Springs and a roadie for a local garage band, among other odd jobs. After the dot.com bubble burst, he worked at Taco Bell in Bozeman, McDonalds for a couple of years and the local Pizza Hut when he started getting sick.
He was passionate about comics and comic books and was a contributor to an organization that digitizes the early comic books in an effort to preserve them for future generations. His interests included studying the Christian Religions, Science Fiction literature, Asian history and in his last few years, politics.
Chris is survived by his wife, Connie, their daughter Nicole (Nikki) Bastian and their Granddaughter Camilla Isabeau-Marie Bastian; his sister Terry Williams, a niece Shannon and a nephew Michael.
A Celebration Memorial is being held on Saturday, November 29 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bozeman at 325 North 25th from 1-4. We ask that as this is a celebration of Chris's life that you dress in bright colors and semi-casual dress, this is not a funeral. There will be a short memorial and then a potluck party to celebrate his life.
