Christopher Key Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Little & Davenport Funeral Home & Crematory from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4, 2025.
Christopher Brian "Chris" Key was born in Gainesville, Georgia on June 26, 1968, to Donald and Melba Key. Chris was a lifetime Gainesville resident and native. He graduated from North Hall High School Class of 1988. Chris was a diehard Georgia Tech fan and held season tickets until he became ill in January of 2025.

Chris worked for UPS for 11 years, Georgia Crime Scene Investigations for 5 years and finished his working years in Quality Control at Fieldale.

Chris loved to cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes. He also hosted a cooking show on YouTube, "His Kitchen" as Chef Chris. Chris loved his dogs, "Ginger" and "Buffy" who were his constant companions until they passed. His current companion, his husky "Bakey" grieves his passing.

Chris faithfully attended New Holland Baptist Church as long as his health allowed.

Survivors include his mother, Melba Cain (Larry Gee), sisters, Jackie Key Patterson and Angie Cain (Wade), brother, Chris Cain, uncles, Steve Helton and Curtis Key (Rhonda), aunts, Mickie Emmett (Larry), Marcia Helton, and Vickie Key Coleman (Larry), and many cousins and close friends. Special friends and caretakers of Georgia Hospice, Eason RN and CNAS, Ashley, Monica, and Jessica.

Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ralph Lee McCrary and Polly Helton, paternal grandparents, Grady and Margaret Key, father, Donald Key, stepfather, Billy Cain and infant brother, Anthony Key.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Hospice, who provided excellent care and support to Chris and his family during his illness, New Holland Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society in memory of Chris.

Memorial services will be held Saturday December 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Stephens, Rick Taylor and Mark Russell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
