On the 30th day of July, in 1982, a fighter was born in
Saint Louis, Missouri. Valda Jane Lett (Miller) and Michael Bernard McGee's first-born son, Christopher Darnell Lett, made his entrance into the world early, but in a mighty way, weighing 2lbs 6ozs! That tiny baby fought to grow and become the tall man, that filled a giant place in our lives and our hearts.
As a small boy, Christopher spent a lot of time with his maternal grandmother, Annie Christine Lett, who made sure he attended Sunday School and services at the neighborhood's Catholic Parish. As a child, Chris knew The Lord and that he was a Child of God, no matter how mischievous he may have been. He never forgot what she taught him. In his adulthood, he accepted Christ and joined Christ Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. As a child, Chris was like any other boy. He loved being outdoors, riding bikes, drawing,
rapping, and hanging out with friends. He received his formal education from the Saint Louis Public School District and the Florissant-Ferguson School District. He attended Beaumont High School, before getting his GED through an alternative program.
Chris valued family above everything! Before the birth of his first son, Christian Donaven Lett, to he and his long time significant other Detra Jones, Chris became "stepdad" to her son Miguel Donnell Moss. It was one of the happiest times of his life. He was a proud and loving father. In 2013, he married Torquiose Faulkner and bore another son, Micah Demtriacs Lett. As an adult, he also reconnected with his father and paternal side of his family. He was welcomed with love and embraced by family, he never knew! This
healed a part of Chris. The hurt he had as a child was replaced with more love than he could imagine.
Moon, as he was so affectionately called by friends, was a hardworking man, that "kept a job or two." Moon enjoyed working in the Restaurant Industry. While working at Taco Bell, Moon saved 6 employees during an attempted robbery. Bravery was just one of his many unforgettable characteristics. He brought his charm, funny antics, and strong work ethics to every job he had. His co-workers loved working with him! Whether he was at work, hanging out with friends from his old neighborhood, or spending time with family, Chris brought jokes and laughter.
Christopher is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie C. Lett and Jessie Edmonds Jr., as well as his paternal grandparents, Patricia Ann McGhee and Samuel Levy. His adopted son, Miguel Moss, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his two beloved sons, Christian and Micah Lett, his loving parents Valda Miller (Anthony Miller) and Michael McGhee (Debra McGhee), sisters Shawntay Vaughn, Annalise Patterson and Jasmine Miller, brothers Brian McGhee, Martise Cohen and Justin Miller. He also leaves behind his loving aunts Sharon Johnson, Andrea Lett, Felicia Cotton, Vanessa Lett, Valencia Lett and uncles Claude Torrey, Manfret and Marvin McGhee, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Christopher will be missed yet, remembered forever and always!
