Ms. Donna Lynn Greene was born on December 3, 1958, in
St. Louis, MO. Deeply rooted in her faith, Donna accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the tender age of nine, at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Obediah Jones.
As the eldest of five children, she embraced her role with grace and strength.
Donna's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with her passions, values, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She was a beacon of love, faith, and resilience throughout her life's journey.
Donna's humbleness and reserved spirit was evident from a young age; beginning at Williams Branch Elementary School, continuing through her graduation from Beaumont High School, and into her secretarial studies at Hickey Secretarial School. Gifted with both beauty and musical talent she quickly blossomed in the church choir, various Rhythm and Blues vocal groups and later showcased her creativity through modeling.
Donna joyfully celebrated the arrival of her first child, Douglas F. Greene, in 1977, whose presence brought great happiness to her world. Four years later, in 1981, she married her soul mate, Michael Washington. Their family grew even more in 1984 when they welcomed their beloved daughter, Angela D. Washington, making their family complete and even more cherished.
Donna joined Fifth Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Emeritus Clarence J. Duvall Sr. in 1978. Her dedication to her church family became one of the defining pillars of her life. She faithfully served in many capacities; from choir member, a Junior Matron under the late Mrs. Jo Ann Duvall, Sunday School assistant teacher, participant in Baptist Training Union, Vacation Bible School, member of the Praise and Worship Team, and a member on the Youth Committee. Donna offered her time, her melodic voice, talents, and her heart wherever she was needed. Her active involvement at Fifth Missionary Baptist Church was a testament to her values, character and warm spirit.
Donna's compassion shone through her many roles as a mother, wife, and caregiver. She unselfishly devoted herself to nurturing and supporting her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Donna's professional journey reflected that same commitment and spirit of service. She taught in the Early Childhood/Head Start Program at the Human Development Corporation (HDC) for three years. After three years she followed God's calling and opened and operated, Loving care Daycare, her licensed in home daycare.
Donna's compassion was boundless, she poured love, patience, and compassion into every child she cared for and their parents, often extending her before and after school hours free of charge to help support high school and single mothers. She believed charity began at home and with faith, her GOD would make the impossible, possible!
Donna regretfully closed her daycare after 9 years. She continued her work as an assistant teacher with her late aunt, Doris M. Kelley, at the Fifth Missionary Baptist Church Daycare, until its closing in 2005. Donna later joined the Urban League Head Start Program, where she served with unwavering dedication until 2014. That year, she relocated to
Houston, Texas, to be closer to her daughter Angela and her beloved grandchildren, Madison and Juelz.
Donna's journey was marked by love, service, and creativity. Even after relocating to
Houston, Texas, she joined Church at the Cross, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Johnny Teague, continued teaching at a private Daycare Center until COVID, designed her own clothing line, "4Real 4Real", and worked at Amazon until her retirement in 2024.
