Christopher Lee Lohr

Christopher Lee Lohr, 63, passed away on March 18, 2026, in Gilbert, Arizona.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 28, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona. Following the celebration, a graveside service with full military services will be conducted by the Streator American Legion Post 217, Streator VFW Post 1492, and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217 at St Mary's Cemetery in Wenona.

Chris was born on December 27, 1962, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator to John and Gloria Lohr. Chris was a deep thinker with a generous heart and a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor that compelled people to gravitate to him. He loved watching college basketball and Major League Baseball, but he also had a profound spiritual connection to nature and a genuine kindness toward people from all backgrounds.

Chris served his country in the United States Navy, stationed in Hawaii, an experience that shaped his discipline and broadened his perspective. After his service, he dedicated more than two decades to the Chicago Fire Department, beginning as a paramedic, then serving as a firefighter, and ultimately concluding his career as an instructor for incoming candidates at the Chicago Fire Academy. He served from 1991 until his retirement in 2015. His commitment to caring for others was a defining part of his life and character.

Nothing mattered more to Chris than being a father to his daughters, Jordan Lohr and Kaia Lohr, and a grandfather to his beloved grandsons, Atlas and Apollo. His grandsons were the center of his world, and he carried immense pride and joy in every moment he shared with them.

He is survived by his daughters and grandchildren; his identical twin brother, John Cary Lohr; his brothers Charles Lohr and Randall Lohr; and his sister, Maribeth Durham. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gloria Lohr; his sister, April Lohr; his sister in law Susan Lohr; and several deeply cherished in-laws.

Chris will be remembered for his humor, his depth, his generosity, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
