CHITTENANGO – Mr. Christopher A. "Chris" Maine, age 43, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Chris was born in Auburn, NY, on May 28, 1982. He graduated from Waterville High School with the Class of 2001. In his earlier years, he held many fond memories of life on the family farm. His mother especially remembers the sweet moments when he picked the neighbor's tulips to give to her. Raised in a house full of women, Chris often spoke fondly of the time he spent with "all the girls."
Chris and Jessica were married on June 28, 2013. He would often say that he would marry her again every single day. They shared a loving and devoted union and were truly inseparable, considering each other their best friend. Their marriage was something special-filled with deep love and countless beautiful memories.
Chris was employed as a Corrections Officer with the New York State Department of Corrections for nearly 20 years. During his time at Mohawk Correctional Facility, he formed many long-lasting friendships and deeply valued the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues. He was known as a dedicated and hardworking member of the team.
A lover of sports, Chris especially enjoyed cheering on the Buffalo Bills, the Atlanta Braves, and the Syracuse Orange, and one of his proudest fan moments was watching the Braves win the World Series in 2021. He cherished traveling with Jessica; together they explored Hawaii, California, Colorado, Georgia, New York, Jamaica, and Florida, and most recently developed a special love for Las Vegas, which they visited several times a year. When he was home, Chris found joy in simple moments-bowling, firing up a good BBQ, golfing with his Northridge neighbors, or relaxing in his pool. Known as a man of few words but great depth, he was an excellent listener, a steady and dependable presence, and a true cheerleader for others.
Chris adored his faithful chocolate lab, Mia, and his cats Biggie, Murphy, and Marley Maine. He loved attending his nieces' and nephews' sporting events and tried his best to never miss a single one. Above all, he was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved.
Chris is survived by his treasured wife, Jessica; mother, Karen Maine; paternal grandmother, Catherine Elliott; and sisters and their loves, Jessica and Dominick Colucci, Jr., and Tara B. Maine and Josef Ball. He further leaves to cherish his memory his nieces and nephew, Emily Colucci, Victoria Colucci; and Brayden Maine; aunts and uncles, especially acknowledging the late Michael Eddy, Donna and Steve Carman, and Maria and Andy Anderson; mother-in-law, Lori Collea and Peter Gleason; his wife's grandmother, Maryann Collea (the late Frank Collea); and his sister-in-law, Allison Wrafter with whom he shared a special bond. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Eddy.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kamal Gautam for his professionalism and compassion, always going above and beyond caring for Chris.
Chris' family invites friends and loved ones to gather to share memories and support on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at One Genny, 1 Genesee St., New Hartford. In lieu of calling hours, anyone who would like to stop by and join the family is welcome- be sure to wear your Buffalo Bills gear in Chris' honor. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
