Christopher McCollum Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowder Funeral Home - Dickinson on Dec. 17, 2025.
Christopher William McCollum, 54, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Dickinson, Texas, and a proud son of Galveston County: born on February 4, 1971, to William and Tynna Backer McCollum.

For 32 years, Christopher served the Dickinson community as a police officer. He believed in service, fairness, and doing the right thing. His lifelong commitment to protecting others and standing up for his community earned him the respect of his colleagues and residents alike.

Outside of work, Christopher was happiest when he was building, fixing, or creating something with his hands. A skilled gunsmith and gifted tinker, he possessed the rare ability to take things apart, understand how they work, and put them back together-often better than before. Christopher found joy in craftsmanship and problem-solving. He was patient, curious, and generous with his knowledge, always willing to lend a hand. He was also an avid hunter who valued time outdoors.

Above all, Christopher was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly McCollum and their three children Emma Marie, Avery Kay, and Emery William, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother Tynna Mitchell, and her husband Robert; his brother Jeffery Todd McCollum and his three sons; and Kimberly's family: her parents, Gail and Dennis Hermann; her sister Stacey Boring, her husband Wayne, and their three children; her brother Scott Karpowicz, his wife Kim, and their two children; and her sister Melissa Love.

Christopher is preceded in death by his father, William McCollum.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. Funeral services will take place Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Arcadia First Baptist Church in Santa Fe, Texas. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.

Christopher McCollum leaves behind a legacy of service, skill, and quiet kindness. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
