Christopher Meleco Obituary

Meleco, Christopher Jude
LOUDONVILLE - Christopher Jude Meleco, of Manhattan, 43, entered eternal life on May 2, 2024, after a cardiac event. He was born at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, on March 26, 1981, and was raised and educated in East Greenbush. After graduating in 1999 from Columbia High School, he attended Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. While at Bentley, Christopher traveled to Merida, Mexico, for his study aboard semester; this led him to his two-year hotel management career in Cancun after graduation. Upon his return, he led a successful career in real estate at Douglas Elliman in Manhattan and built a beautiful life in New York City.
In 2009, Christopher found his passion for the culinary industry and was accepted into the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan. After his graduation in 2011, he embarked on a successful 13-year career as a chef across multiple restaurants, hotels and businesses, while also becoming a successful private chef for many clients in Manhattan and the Hamptons. He was most recently employed by Wellness in the Schools, a federal grant program in New York City, created to teach nutrition to food services staff supporting the N.Y.C. school district. He was also an active member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, leading their annual children's coat drive.
Christopher's passion for cooking and the love he had for his family and friends could be seen in everything that he did. His enthusiasm for the holidays typically started about six months before the holiday itself, with the menu planned that included everyone's favorites. He created laughter and memories wherever he went and for whomever he was with.
Christopher is the beloved son of Vincent Sr. and Karen Tremblay Meleco, of Loudonville, N.Y. He is survived by his brothers, Vincent Meleco Jr., of Ave Maria, Fla., Matthew Meleco, of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Steven (Meaghan) Meleco, of Albany, N.Y. Christoper also leaves behind his beloved nephew and godson, Joseph Jude Meleco. In addition, Christopher is survived by his aunts and uncles, godmother, Mary Ann (John) Schepisi, John Wojick Sr., Patrick (Mary) Meleco, Michael (Mary) Meleco and Mary Ann Casale, along with numerous cousins, whom he loved dearly. He also leaves many close friends in both Albany and Manhattan, including Stephen Chesley, Keira VanVranken, Dina Montes and Ashlea Denison.
Christopher was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Margaret Tremblay; paternal grandparents, Charles and Marie Meleco; his aunt, Judith Wojick; and cousin, Jason Wojick.
