Our beloved Christopher (Mush) Misciagna passed away on May 28th, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 51 years old.
Chris will be eternally missed by his wife of 20 years, Holly, his children, Daniel (17) and Juliet (12), His father, James Misciagna, beloved mother, Rosemarie, sister Cathy, brother Patrick, brother-in-law, Anthony, sister in laws, Ayumi and Vanessa, and his mother and father-in-law, Carol Ann and Joseph Verde. He was also a cherished uncle, co-worker, and friend.
Chris retired from NYC Sanitation after 20 years of service as an environmental police officer. He was also a first responder at 9/11. He relocated to Doylestown, PA in 2017 and lived there with his wife and 2 children.
During a difficult and painful time like this, we all know that Chris would have been saying something sarcastic to lighten the mood. "I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue" was a definite favorite! Chris could light up a room with his wicked sense of humor and he did not need to know you well to say something completely inappropriate. If you were offended by Chris, then you didn't know him. He was unapologetically hilarious, but also sweet, kind, and generous, and adored by many.
Chris was an avid hunter and loved his time upstate. He looked forward to it all year long and was thrilled when Danny followed in his footsteps and wanted to join him. His hunting crew provided him with a lifetime of laughs and memories.
Not everyone may know Chris's obsession with reality TV. At any given time, he'd be caught watching "My 600 Pound Life", "Married at First Sight", or "Life After Lockup" and he admitted it proudly. He would also get great joy watching his hunting cam and try to get everyone as excited as him when he saw a bear walk by his hunting spot.
Chris adored his children and loved spending time with them. He was so proud of all their accomplishments. His favorite thing to do was order food, watch movies and have lots of back-and-forth banter with his wife and kids, complete with plenty of teasing at their expense. Those times are what he lived for. He also enjoyed work so much and made great friends in the many roles he worked over the years. He loved to come home and share stories about his day. He was a loyal friend, and even if he teased you, he loved you.
Although he suffered greatly in life with so much physical struggle, his humor was his saving grace. He just loved to make people laugh. We can take comfort knowing that he can rest in pain free peace, where he is most likely riding a motorcycle, running with his dogs, and probably making up fake "Blimp Pilot" cards for prospective dates. We are certain that his mother ran right to him as she heard him yelling, "UPPY."
Our lives will not be the same without Chris. He will be forever missed and until we can see him again, we can carry his memory in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to Chris' Life Celebration, Saturday, June 8th, from 1:00pm-4:00pm, at John F. Givnish of Buckingham, 4886 York Road, and to participate in his Funeral Service at 4:00pm.
