Ishpeming- Christopher J. Nelson, age 42, lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday March 9, 2026.
Chris was born in Ishpeming on February 21, 1984, son of the late Thomas and Myrna (Maxwell) Nelson. He grew up in the Ishpeming area and was a graduate of Westwood High School, class of 2003. Chris worked as a heavy equipment operator for nearly 20 years at A&L Iron and Metal. In his free time Chris enjoyed fishing, boating, and taking his dogs for walks.
Chris is survived by 5 siblings- Michelle (Matthew) Lorenz, Christi (John) Robinson, Janel (Patrick) Huddleston, Thomas Nelson, Mark Nelson, nieces- Amanda, Whitney, Savannah, Micaela, Jade, Rachael, nephews- Arron, Forest, Marc, Zachary, step nieces- Jasmine, Autumn, Chanel, along with several great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and beloved dog Murphy.
Following Chris’ wishes, cremation will take place with no public services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to UPAWS in memorial of Christopher and Murphy.
