- On Thursday, December 14, 2023, Chris Orn, 44, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle against cancer. Chris was a loving and amazing husband, father, son, and friend and has made an impact on every life he touched and will be greatly missed.

Chris was born on June 19, 1979, and is the only child to Roger and Pat Orn of West Valley City, UT. He graduated from Hunter High school in 1997. He also obtained an Associate of Business degree from Salt Lake Community College. On September 21, 2002, he married Katy Orn and together they have two amazing children, Crosby and Mikaela Orn.

Chris owned his cookie distribution business, BMC Distributing, for 10 years and enjoyed being his own boss and interacting with his customers. He worked hard to develop relationships with everyone. He also worked coaching soccer for Metasport FC and absolutely loved every minute of it. He fostered many long-lasting relationships with the players, their families, and all the coaches. He also enjoyed 20 years of volunteer work doing off-ice officiating for the ECHL Utah Grizzlies, where he became a jack of all trades who was able to work each role necessary during the games. He also volunteered as an off-ice official for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and had a chance to work the men's gold medal game for hockey. Additionally, true to Chris' nature, he built amazing relationships with those in that part of the hockey community.

Chris loved his children more than anything in the world and loved to see them do things that made them happy and succeed. He was proud of each of them. He also had an immense passion for soccer and the communities he became a part of because of that passion. He developed amazing friendships from the teams he played on and loved spending time with those friends as often as he could. Coaching was one of the most rewarding things that he had done, and he made an impact on several of the players' lives and created friendships for those he worked with, the parents, and the players.

Chris is survived by his wife, Katy, children, Crosby and Mikaela, parents, Roger and Pat Orn, father-in-law, Paul Smith, multiple brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Minnette Rhoads and Alvin and Ruby Orn, mother-in law, Yvonne Smith, and brother-in-law, Chad Smith.

Viewings will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 10:00 – 10:45 am at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home located at 1007 West South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 11:00 am. Also, at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home in South Jordan. No burial services will be held.
