Christopher Perez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Chris was Born January 13,1975 at St. Edward's Hospital, where Dr. Perrin and Sister Mary Thadias assisted. Chris is a member of St.Monicas Catholic Church, where he completed all his Sacraments. Christopher is a 1993 Yoe High Graduate where he was known as A VERY POPULAR FRIEND to ALL and received a STANDING OVATION as he walked across the stage to receive his High School DIPLOMA. Chris never met a stranger, he had a smile, a handshake or a hug for everyone.

Chris loved playing BINGO at the VFW and couldn't wait to see Birdie and the many regulars on Wednesday and Sundays. Chris loved to watch wrestling and had a full display of wrestler figures, VHS & dvd's in his bedroom. Watching wrestling, eating pizza with a cold drink was something he and his grandma Lupe enjoyed together.

In his younger years he was an avid TEXAS LONGHORN FAN, and that was his daily attire. Later on he switched and became a DYE HARD AGGIE FAN and proudly presented his thumbs up to everyone.

His favorite songs were Purple Rain, Elvira & The bottle let me down.

He was quite the lady's man and claimed many as his girlfriend. His first (imaginary) wife was Barbara Bush. Yet we never understood that either.

Chris leaves behind his mom & dad Johnny & Rosie Mendoza, A Step- brother Johnny Mendoza Jr. & step- sister Felicia Mendoza, An honorary brother Richard Acosta (Richie) Jr. many Aunts, Uncles nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Biological Father Albert Perez, His Grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Albert Perez Sr. & Grandpa Ernie, Aunts Elizabeth & Georgia Perez of Rosebud and his grandma Lupe Olivarri Acosta & Uncle Carl Wayne Acosta from Cameron.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2026, at St. Monica Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm Sunday with a rosary being recited at 6:00 pm at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
