Durham, NC: On May 12, 2025, Christopher William Perry died unexpectedly at his home in Durham, North Carolina from a sudden medical event, on the eve of his 33rd birthday.
Chris is survived by his fiancée Kristen Seidel; his parents Bill and Sue Perry of Chatham, New Hampshire, his sister and brother-in-law Jen and Curtis Gerry. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joel and Mary Leblanc of Madawaska, Maine and Herbert and E. Claire Perry of Chatham, NH.
Chris was born on May 13th, 1992 in North Conway, NH. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 2010 and then went on to attend college at the University of Maine, Orono. While there he studied Computer Science and was a brother of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2020.
As a child, Chris played several different sports, he especially loved playing football and played all the way through his senior year at FA where he was named an 'offensive lineman of the year'. He also played basketball, baseball and track. During his years playing on Rec. Dept. teams, he was coached several times by his father. Chris loved being part of all the teams and his best friends played along with him through all the years; Tevin, Jason, Kyle and Adam. Chris enjoyed playing video games, reading, board games, and Dungeons and Dragons with his friends Jake, Jaret, Trent, and Alex.
Computers have been a love for Chris since he was very young. At FA, he helped the IT staff whenever he could. He was an excellent student, and won an award while participating in Odyssey of the Mind, with his team being coached by his mother.
Since he was old enough to work, Chris has always had a job. But his greatest passion was computer science, having the opportunity to intern while he was still in high school and then developed a very successful career working first for Emerlyn Technology for 10 years and then going on to work for Nubank as a Staff Software Engineer where he has been for the last 4 years.
In the last few years of his life, Chris had a new commitment for life and his health, taking up running, biking and working out. Chris adopted his dog, Haymitch, from a shelter and Haymitch became his beloved companion, with Chris loving to take long walks with him.
3 years ago, Chris and Kristen found each other and fell in love. They were happily engaged to be married in October 2025. They were committed to each other and looked forward to an incredible, full life together. The love he had for Kristen was so evident when he looked at her and talked about her.
A memorial service will be held in Durham at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17th at Clements Funeral Home Gathering Room, 1117 Broad Street, Durham. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 24th at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds Expo Center in Fryeburg, ME.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations to be made in Chris's name to Fryeburg Academy, 745 Main St. Fryeburg, Maine 04037 or to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

We are so sorry to hear of Christopher's passing. Although we didn't know each other personally, we were fellow dog walkers in his neighborhood and have made a passing connection. Our hearts go out to his family, and his fiancee Kristen. Your loss will be in our hearts. Your neighbors.
