Christopher Powell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home on Jan. 10, 2026.
Christopher Paul Powell, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Paris, Tennessee, at the age of 56.
For 18 years, he proudly served as a firefighter with the Covington Fire Department, dedicating his life to protecting others. After his years of service, he took that same work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit and opened a Buff City Soap in Murray, Kentucky.
When he wasn't working, his happiest place was on Kentucky Lake. Whether hunting, fishing, or just soaking in the quiet of the outdoors, that's where he felt most at peace. Some of his most cherished moments were spent fishing and hunting alongside his son, Gunner, his brother, Allen, and his nephew, Brad their time together was filled with stories, laughter, and lessons that will last a lifetime.
Known as a jokester with a quick wit, he could lighten any room and make hard days easier with humor. A true handyman, he was constantly on the move from working construction jobs, tackling electrical projects, and fixing anything that needed attention. He simply didn't know how to slow down.
Chris will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, his tireless hands, and the love he had for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the work he built, and the memories made on the lake, at the firehouse, and at home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Powell Sr; the man who raised him, Wayne Rose; and his best friend and ex-wife, Sherry Lynn Powell. He is survived by his mother, Sue Rose, his children; Courtney Powell Denison (Eric) and Gunner Powell (Abby), his grandchildren; Gage Denison, Zoey Denison, Ryver Powell and Knox Powell, his brother, Allen Powell (Nikki), his sisters, Cindy Dunavant, Pam Kellum, and Kim Golden (David) and his nephew, Brad Dunavant.
