CHRISTOPHER KNOX PRICE

1957 - 2022

Christopher Knox Price, a resident of the King William neighborhood in San Antonio, entered eternity on March 28th, 2022, after suffering a severe stroke at age 64. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 17, 1957, to Nancy and John Price. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Chris attended Colorado College where he received a degree in Political Economy. Subsequently, Chris attended St. Mary's University where he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1983.

Fresh out of law school, Chris joined the State of Texas General Land Office under the leadership of Garry Mauro where he eventually became the Director of Asset Management, overseeing the state's real estate investments that support the Permanent School Fund to help finance public schools. After a successful 12-year career at the General Land Office, Chris turned his sights toward helping his parents expand The Price Companies, a real estate investment firm. His capstone project was developing The Crossvine, a mixed-use housing community in Schertz, Texas.

Chris married Nancy Nobles Price on September 16, 1989 in Aspen, Colorado after a whirlwind romance, dating long distance between San Francisco, California and Austin, Texas. Chris gave Nancy the gift of two children, Emma Louise Price in 1998 and Liam Collier Price in 2000.

In looking back on Chris' life, it becomes abundantly clear that he was a selfless giver of his time, talents, and love. With a passion for politics, he donated his time and talents to many political campaigns. Among others, he campaigned tirelessly for the election of President Bill Clinton. He supported Nancy in her quest to pursue an MBA and a successful global marketing career. He generously gave his time, love and advice to his children and took the family on many memorable trips around the world. In addition, he served on several non-profit boards including the March of Dimes, SER Jobs for Progress, and the King William Neighborhood Association where he served two terms as President.

His most generous contribution was the donation of his organs to several recipients through Donate Life Texas. His lungs, kidneys, liver, and pancreas have all been donated to support the lives of those in need. His heart was too big for anyone else.

Chris was also an avid cyclist and over the past 20 years, rode over 65,000 miles on his road bike, almost three times the circumference of the world. He was a cherished friend within the San Antonio cycling community.

Chris is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter, Emma, son, Liam, mother, Nancy, father, John, and siblings: Craig Humphries, Becky Hammond, Scott Price, and Jennifer Price, and nine nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life took place at King William Park on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, where many friends, neighbors, colleagues, and family shared their memories and songs. Gifts in his memory can be made to KSTX Texas Public Radio, KLRN PBS, or American Stroke Association.
