Christopher Scott Pruitt (Scottie), of Leesville, Louisiana, passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 52. Scottie was the cherished son of the late Debra Bowden of Leesville, Louisiana, and Danny Pruitt and his wife Denise Pruitt of Coushatta, Louisiana. He proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating courage and dedication throughout his military career. From February 15, 1994 to August 16, 1995, Scottie was stationed aboard the USS O'Bannon (DD-987), a Spruance-class destroyer. During his service, he participated in key operations across the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, and Persian Gulf. The USS O'Bannon earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its role in Operation Uphold Democracy, supporting the restoration of Haiti's elected government. The ship also contributed to Cold War-era patrols and Operation Southern Watch, enforcing the no-fly zone over Iraq following the Gulf War. Scottie's service reflected a deep commitment to duty during a time of global unrest. Beyond his military service, Scottie was known for his love of football and family. A devoted fan of the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints, he brought energy and laughter to every gathering. Scottie was the life of the party, always ready with a joke or a smile, and he lived each day with joy and passion. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He is survived by his sister, Shelly Conn (Dewayne); nephews Austin Conn and Kristopher Conn; nieces Jaycie Conn and MacKenzie Anderson (Jimmy); great-nephew Roman Anderson; great-nieces Trinity Anderson and Maya Anderson; stepsister Ericka Carter; aunts Billie Dougherty (Gene) and Shelia Laughlin (Ed); uncle Bobby Dixon; and many beloved great-aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews and cousins. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the physicians and nursing staff at Rapides General Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. A celebration of Scottie's life will be held at 2:00PM on October 25, 2025 at Holly Grove Methodist Church in Anacoco, Louisiana. A life well-lived, remembered with love. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose."
