Christopher James Richter
Of Deposit, NY
Christopher James Richter, 81, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY. Born on May 8, 1944, in Queens, NY, Christopher was the cherished son of Christopher and Emma Richter, who have both preceded him in death.
Christopher's life was characterized by his commitment to service and his love for the outdoors. He dedicated many years to the Bainbridge Village Highway Department and served selflessly as a volunteer firefighter. His role as a Bainbridge police officer allowed him to strengthen the bond within his community and ensure the safety and well-being of those around him. Additionally, he worked as a truck driver, showcasing his hardworking nature and willingness to contribute in various capacities.
An avid outdoorsman, Christopher found joy in hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him closer to nature and created lasting memories. He was also a proud family man, and his legacy will live on through his loved ones. Christopher is survived by his companion, Linda Slocum; son, Mark McNamara; and his grandchildren: Stephanie McNamara, Mark and Audrey McNamara, Marisa and Corey Wilder, and Kristen McNamara & Andrew Parsons. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Emerson “his big little guy”, Snow, and Kayla Rose; his brother, James Richter, and nephews, Jamie and Tim Richter, will also carry his memory forward. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his stepdaughter, Hope Jones, and stepson, Paul Fritz, as well as his dear friends David VanPelt and Theresa Schambach.
Christopher was preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence Richter, and brothers Joseph and Charles Richter. His dedication to his family, friends, and community will be deeply missed.
A visitation in honor of Christopher James Richter will take place on December 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hennessey's Funeral Home, located at 78 2nd St., Deposit, NY. The warmth and kindness he shared with those around him will forever be remembered.
Interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge, NY in the Spring.
