Christopher A. Riedel, 51, of Eldon, MO, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at home.

 

He was born December 26, 1972 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Clarence Richard and Nancy Sue (Todd) Riedel.   Chris was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1991.  After High School Chris attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. 

 

Chris married Jody Stotler. He later married Shelley Taylor on September 6, 2014 in Monmouth, IL and she survives.

 

Chris worked for Jackson Disposal for over 15 years.  He currently worked for Adient in Eldon, MO.  Chris enjoyed going boating on the river and lake.  He liked to go hunting and fishing.  Chris enjoyed racing go-karts with his son.  He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  

 

Surviving Chris is his wife, Shelley Riedel of Eldon, MO; his children, Tia (Doug) Tatman of Monmouth, IL, Aryssia (Chris Sattler) Montroy of West Point, IA, Raven (Joe) Byrd of Danville, IA, Cody (Vanessa) Riedel of Camdenton, MO, Kaitlyn (Mariah) Ehler of Monmouth, IL, Ryker Riedel of Eldon, MO; his grandchildren, Kenna Tatman, Sawyer Tatman, Bennett Tatman, Keigan Thacker, Drake Bielser, Conner Hill, Jayden Byrd, Ike Riedel, Indie Riedel; his brother, Carl Anthony (Judy Klein) Riedel of Houston, TX; his sister, Joy Michelle (Kirk) Huston of Pella, IA; one nephew, Matthew (Jessica) Huston of Pella, IA; and one great nephew, Aiden Huston of Pella, IA.  Also surviving are several cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.   Cremation rites will be accorded following the gathering.  Memorials can be made to the Christopher Riedel Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home or donated below.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
