John McGee
August 17, 2025
I knew Christopher in 1960-61 when we were both students at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire, England. We spent a lot of time together walking in the local countryside, talking about the future and reading similar books. I lost contact with Christopher when I left in the summer of '61 and I think he may have stayed on for the following year. I have often wondered what became of him but knowing of his American connections I doubted we would ever meet again. However, my hopes rose when I went to Stanford in the late 60's but it was a chaotic time and reconnection was not made. Today, 15 Aug 2025, I decided on a whim to google for him and quite quickly I found hisphotograph. I recognised him instantly, much older but unchanged over the years in so many ways.; the same narrow face, the watchful shrewd look in his eyes. It was good to see his picture but sad, inevitably, to read of his passing. Life at Stonyhurst was a peaceful period, a prelud eto life's more testing times which were obviously just around the corner. Good memories. Best wishes to all his family. John McGee, High Wycombe, England.
