Christopher Abel Schulz, 34, joined our Father in heaven on Monday, July 1st, 2024, due to natural causes. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death but finds comfort knowing he is fully at peace in the kingdom of heaven.
Chris was born to Elisabeth (“Betty”) Schulz on April 10, 1990, in Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 2008. Chris was a lover of music (hip-hop & country), animals (he had several pet cats and dogs over the course of his life, and loved pandas), video games, Star Wars, and family bonfires.
Growing up, he and his older brother, Cody, were typical brothers who played hard, and fought even harder. They fished and rode bikes together and got into mischief a time or two (or maybe a few more), and they fought a lot, like brothers often do. Cody being the antagonist and Chris being temperamental, the two of them were bound to butt heads. Cody’s high school girlfriend, now wife, (and writer of this obituary) probably didn’t help ease the teen-year fights (sorry Betty!) But the fights never lasted long, and all was well soon after. Cody and Chris may have exchanged some punches a few times, but they were very protective of each other, and they loved each other immensely.
Chris was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He cared so deeply about his family – he loved his Mom more than anyone; she was his caregiver, his confidant, his co-gardener, and his best friend. In more recent years, Chris faced physical limitations due to his size, but he never let that get in the way of connecting with his two favorite little ones – his nephew, Gunner, (8) and niece, Grace, (4) whom he loved unconditionally. He was always up for playing his and Gunner’s favorite video games, like Roblox, Fall Out and Fortnight; and was the best snuggling and napping buddy to Grace.
Chris will be greatly missed by his mother, Elisabeth Schulz and her fiancé, Hobie Helton, his brother, Cody Schulz, sister-in-law, Jackie Schulz, nephew, Gunner Schulz, niece, Grace Schulz, and his dog Bentley. He will forever be remembered by his grandmother, Mary Cichos, aunt, Becky Lippert, aunt, Jolynn Brendel (Frank Brendel), uncle Tim Schulz, uncle, Jamie Schulz (Allison Schulz), uncle Duane Schulz (Sheryl Schulz) godparents, Tami and Kirk Hoff, godparents, Pam and Rodney Erhardt, many cousins and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather Melvin Abel Schulz.
Cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27th. Memorial donations can be made to Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Service, Bismarck.
