Christopher "Chris" Slechticky, age 62, of Savanna, IL, died at Big Meadows Nursing Home on January 25, 2024, after a long illness from Primary Lateral Sclerosis.
Chris was born in Murphysboro, IL on November 27, 1961, to James & Margaret Slechticky. Chris was the youngest of six children.
Chris graduated from Trico High School in 1979. Later he attended John A Logan College completing a certificate in welding. His occupation was mostly in sales at various hardware stores. He was skilled in many trades with a working knowledge of various building practices. He loved to tinker and adapt things to meet his needs and the needs of others. He loved animals, especially his dog Sandy. He had an earthy sense of Spirit and sometimes would share his encounters with God in nature. No job was beneath him, he even drove a honey wagon for one hardware store.
Chris is survived by daughters: Amber & Jesse Phillips, grandchildren Avery & Easton of Shiloh, IL, Dr Emily Slechticky & Dr. Franklin Payne of Jackson, Tn, Kristin Slechticky, grandchildren Violet & Etta, of St. Louis, Mo and Kaylea Slechticky of St. Louis, Mo. He is also survived by his sisters and their spouses: Ann & Michael Baschieri of Peoria, IL, Kathy & Fred Taylor of Ava, IL, Mary & Michael Highland of Argo Fay, IL and Teresa & Tony Marotta of Rockford, IL. Also, many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, James & Margaret Slechticky, his brother John Slechticky and his nephew Jim Taylor.
A memorial fund has been established. Family and friends are encouraged to share in Chris's life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
