Christopher Tripp Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 30, 2026.
Christopher Tripp, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 29, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chris led a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep passion for education.

Chris was the son of Verne and Rita Tripp, who instilled in him values of kindness, integrity, and a love for learning. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as several family members, including his brothers-in-law Harold Breaux, Ardley Hanemann, Edward Norman, and Paul Andrade, and his father-in-law Manuel Andrade and mother-in-law Rebecca Andrade.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Tripp, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years of joy and companionship. Chris was a dedicated father to his daughter, Jennifer Edgren (Joshua). He also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Dolly Breaux, Liddy Hanemann, and Mary Norman, and his brother, Peter Tripp, FSC. Chris was a beloved uncle, leaving a legacy of love and support for his nieces and nephews: Erin Williams (Ray), Robin Lauga (Adam), David Hanemann (Jessica), Brian Norman (Ramona), Matthew Norman, and Matthew Andrade (Elizabeth).

Chris pursued his education diligently, earning bachelor's and master's degrees from Louisiana State University. While in the process of obtaining his doctorate at the University of Illinois, he was hired as a Latin teacher at Hinsdale South High School, where he inspired and educated students from 1977 until his retirement in 2007. His passion for education was evident in his dedication to his students and his commitment to lifelong learning.

In addition to his teaching career, Chris served as a trustee for the Woodridge Public Library for over 20 years, contributing meaningfully to the community he loved. He was an avid traveler with a fondness for hiking and exploring new places. Chris enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending evenings in front of the television, intensely fixated on the Saints and LSU Tigers, while patiently enduring whatever fresh heartbreak the White Sox had to offer. He was known for his sharp wit and humor, often playfully pointing out when others were decidedly not retired Latin teachers.

Chris was characterized by his sarcasm, warmth, and generosity. He was a devoted family man, always willing to compromise if one could make a compelling argument. His sense of fashion was unpretentious, favoring jeans and polos over trends; in fact, he famously wore the same winter coat since 1997. His love for his favorite teams was often reflected in his attire, proudly worn as part of everyday life.

A celebration of Chris's life was held on January 25, 2026, at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hinsdale South High School, in honor of Chris's 30 years of dedication to education and his lasting impact on generations of students.
