Christopher Germaine Varner, 47, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Mission Hospital surrounded by the love of his daughter, mother, and siblings.

Born in Asheville on November 19, 1978, Christopher was a man of diverse talents and intellect. He was a proud graduate of Haywood Community College, where he earned an Associate degree in Horticulture, and A-B Tech, where he earned an Associate degree in Machining. He most recently applied his skills and hard work as a member of the team at HCA Mission Hospital.

Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Donald Varner Sr., and his stepfather, Tim Phillips.

He is survived by his mother, Janet Lynn Lindsey Phillips of Asheville; his children, Kayla and Izik; his brothers, Kenneth of Asheville and Jean-Paul (Sarah); and his sisters, Stephanie Varner (Chuck) and Melissa Ketterman (Anthony). He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his 11 nieces and nephews, three great-nieces, and one great-nephew.

His next of kin is Stephanie Varner. I haven't spoken with Chris in ages, but he had a lot of heart, and is someone I grew up with. I will never forget him. Rest in peace brother.
