Christopher "Chris" Winterstein, 53, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was the husband of Onome (Ehijator) Winterstein. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, he was the son of the late Donald Winterstein and C. Deborah (Clift) Lord.
Chris worked for Alpha Packaging as a machine and forklift operator. He volunteered for various Search and Rescue Departments for 26 years. He was with Berks County Search and Rescue for 6 years, and actively held the position of Captain. He also was a volunteer firefighter at Wyomissing Fire Company. During his time in Search and Rescue, he was a first responder on 9/11. Outside of his professional life, Chris enjoyed watching wrestling, and was a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers. He will be remembered for his off beat sense of humor, and his willingness to help those in need.
Chris is survived by his brothers, Brian Winterstein (Linda Speece), and Scott Winterstein (Lisa); as well as his daughter, Brittany Winterstein; and stepchildren: Success Ehijator, and Osas Ehijator; his nieces and nephews: Justin Winterstein, Tyler Winterstein, Jamie Saylor, and Brittany Garland.
The funeral service for Chris will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 5153 Kutztown Rd, Temple, PA,19560, with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends and family may begin to gather at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berks County Search and Rescue at PO Box 113, Mohton, PA 19540.
