Christy Ann Parry

Christy Parry, our amazing and wonderful daughter, sister, favorite auntie, cousin, and friend, died of a pulmonary embolism on Monday, April 22. To say she will be missed is a tremendous understatement.
She did so much for so many while forgetting no one. She made everyone feel special. She traveled the world, fed dozens around her dining table, hosted scores of parties, read thousands of books, visited countless museums, co-founded and ran a non-profit, and worked for the same employer for more than 20 years. She loved real, paper books; museums; art; the beach; music; travel; theater; and most of all; "her people." To be numbered among her people is to be included in a cherished club. If you felt you were a part of that club, you most certainly were. She collected friends throughout her life and did the work to maintain those friendships. In February she threw an unforgettable party for her 50th birthday with 250 of her closest friends and family. She was and is loved.
Christy was an expert in love. Her kind of friendship was intimate and transformative. Blood was no barrier to be counted as family, as hers.
She was a curator of many things, her most cherished collection was her friends of which she had many. She was a trusted confidant. She never missed an opportunity (birthdays, Christmas, or "just because I thought of you") to gift a carefully selected book. She sought opportunities to educate and to be taught. Every time is a good time to go to the beach or night swimming at Walden Pond. Her spontaneity and spirit brought joy into every room and situation.
Christy had a personal philosophy based on integrity and her faith in Jesus Christ that guided her decisions and actions. She followed what was right, rules and convention be damned. She was an active volunteer in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; missionary in Ecuador, temple worker, youth leader, children's song leader, choir member, and many other church responsibilities. In her own words, "I believe all this Jesus stuff. I believe that his life and teachings, his death, atonement and resurrection are real and powerfully eternal. I believe he can make beauty out of ashes. I believe that life has meaning, and that love, in all its forms, and loving each other, is the stuff of a meaningful life. That we might have joy."
She is survived by her parents Lloyd and Virginia Parry, siblings Holly and Jeff Ord, Jeff and Kristin Parry, April and Frank Truscott, Wendie and Andrew Burger, Caleb and Morgan Parry. Nieces and nephews Boston (Emilie), Gabe, and Phoenix Ord; Samuel (Emma) Parry, Kiera (Zach) Stay; Keely, Nieve, and Pippa Parry, Kelton (Hannah), Jacob, London, and Adin Truscott; Joseph and Simon Burger; Coco and Ginny Parry, Charlie Stay, all the delightful children who considered her their auntie, and countless friends she considered as family.
As she would say "I like you, and I love you".
