Chuck Bates

Chuck was a man of few words and many deeds. He lived to be of service to others. He was handyman and treasurer for multiple non-profits. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and took part in a trip to the Gulf Coast in order to help with the rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. Chuck had a beautiful bass voice and sang in church choirs for decades. At the age of 77, he learned to play the ukulele and got a big kick out of playing and singing with others. All of his gifts he shared with great joy. His biggest joys of all, though, were his family (especially his grandchildren!) and his faith. He didn't talk about his faith much, he just lived it. Chuck will be missed by many, but most especially by his wife, his son and daughter-in-law, and his beloved granddaughters. A celebration of his wonderful life will be held at 2 PM, May 2, 2026, at Spring Glen Church in Hamden, CT.
