Cierra Nichole Stanley, 28, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 5:53 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Cierra was born April 15, 1997 in Galesburg, the daughter of Cornelius R. Stanley and Nikki M. Weaver. Cierra graduated from Galesburg High School in 2015 and earned her AAS from Carl Sandburg College. She worked for several years as a traveling CNA and transitioned to a homemaker after her son Roman was born.
Cierra is survived by her son, Roman Gomez; her father, Corny (Dawn) Stanley of Galesburg; grandmother, Joyce Taylor of Galesburg; grandparents, Richard and Gail Weaver of Chatham, Illinois; and her stepgrandparents, Ron Lindner and Marlene Lindner, both of Galesburg. Cierra is also survived by her significant other, Matthew Clark of Galesburg; three stepbrothers, Quentin (Emily Shaw) Turner of Milan, Illinois, Marcus Turner and DaNeil Waters both of Galesburg; and one stepsister, Tia (Nick Napier) Waters of Galesburg. Cierra was preceded in death by her mother, Nikki; her stepmother, Amy Stanley; and her grandfather, Clee Stanley, Sr.
Cierra had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She enjoyed watching musicals, playing board games and card games. She loved Harry Potter, was always learning and enjoyed trying new things. Cierra was a strong supporter of LBGTQ. More than anything, Cierra loved being a mother to Roman.
Memorial visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial services will follow at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Allen Robinson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to benefit Roman.
