Cindy Knight Obituary

"If only time knew our sorrow, and gifted us yesterday instead of tomorrow."

With grieving hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Cindy Kay Knight. Cindy passed on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at her home in Ridgefield, Washington. She was surrounded by loved ones as she succumbed to a courageous battle with cancer.

Cindy was born December 26, 1956 in Portland, Oregon to her father, Clinton Knight, who diligently worked as a butcher and her mother Bertha, who was a devoted wife and Homemaker. Shortly after starting their family they moved to the Kittitas Valley where she and her siblings attended Kittitas Schools.

Cindy spent most of her life raising her own family and working in Ellensburg, Washington. She served her community as a compassionate Home Health and Hospice nurse, cherishing the close friendships she built with patients and co-workers before retiring in 2021. She was hard working and could seldom be found sitting still. When not working she enjoyed horseback riding, antiquing and time spent with her loved ones.

Cindy was a dedicated mother who continually poured out unconditional love and support. She was always there when she was needed and willing to help in any way. However, her true passion was being a grandma and Meme to her five grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them as much as she could. She would host family dinners, Holiday gatherings and Beach house getaways at her vacation home in Ocean Shores. She loved cooking, baking and decorating for every holiday. The traditions she spent her life instilling in her family will be enjoyed for generations to come.

Cindy is survived by her children, Thomas Fain of Chehalis, Daniel Bossert of Kittitas, Crystal (Colin) Johnston of Vancouver, Rebecca (Josh) Walker of Vancouver and Joshua Knight of Ellensburg. Grandchildren, Tyler Johnston, Kaylie Walker, Jacob Walker, Finn Johnston and Eeva Johnston. She is preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Bertha Knight, her brother David Knight and her sister Bonnie Aalmo.

Memorial service for friends and family will be held on Nov. 2nd at 2pm. Location, Brookside funeral home 500 E. Mountainview Ave. Ellensburg.

I met Cindy when I joined Kittitas Valley Home Care and Hospice. She took me under her wing and my orientation with her was professional and friendly. She shared her wisdom with me and gave me the chance to be the best and serve our patients with the knowledge and kindness that only comes from a loving heart. Thank you Cindy for sharing all that you knew and having so much patience with me. We became fast friends, shared the love of horses and kept in touch long after we retired and moved away from Ellensburg. You were so brave and positive about new treatments offered to you.
I know you are healed now and with your Lord and Savior and all of your loved ones that went before. I miss you and I know I will see you again

When I think of my sweet friend, Cindy, I know she is smiling at some of the things we talked about over the years. Cindy had a no nonsense attitude when it came to taking the best care of her patients. Her heart was so big & caring for those patients that needed her. Cindy held some of our events like our annual Christmas party for staff. We also had several picnic & at one of them we played baseball at the park. She was a great cheerleader for all of us. We were a family at Home Health & Hospice. I cherish those special times & will never forget her. I feel privileged to be able to call her my friend
