Cindy L. Murphy

December 19, 1956 – September 1, 2025

Cindy L. Murphy, 68, of Warren, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Overlook Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 19, 1956, at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Cindy was the daughter of Ellsworth George Lare and Wilberta Lare. She grew up in Warren and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1975, remaining a proud lifelong resident of the community she cherished.

Cindy began her career at Kemper Insurance in Summit and later worked at Grigsby Nut Kitchen in Watchung. Yet, her greatest joy and accomplishment came from creating a warm, loving home and raising her family.

Creative and nurturing by nature, Cindy found happiness in crocheting, sewing, and caring for animals, especially her beloved cats. Her greatest passion, inspired by her father, was gardening. She poured her heart into cultivating beautiful flowers and plants, transforming her garden into a reflection of her patience, artistry, and love for life. Those who knew Cindy will remember her generous spirit, her willingness to help others, and the kindness she carried with her always.

Cindy was predeceased by her beloved son, Timothy (2015), and her father, George (2018). She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Kevin Murphy; her children, Patrick Murphy and Danielle Buchalski and her husband, Ian; and her cherished granddaughter, Quinn Maren Buchalski, who brought her boundless joy since her birth on June 2. She is also survived by her mother, Wilberta; her siblings, Harry Steven Lare and his wife Diana, Linda Fossett and her husband Jeffrey, Rebecca Fallon and her husband Robert, and Catherine Lare; along with seven nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, New Jersey. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cindy's memory to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center or to a local animal shelter of your choice.
