Clairdene Lumpkin Sherrod, affectionately known as ‘Boot’, was born on September 3, 1959, to parents of the late Mr. Vander Lumpkin Sr. and the late Mrs. Fannie Mae Lumpkin of Unadilla, Georgia.
Clairdene received her formal education at Unadilla High School in Unadilla, Georgia. She was employed by Gulfport School District as the Food Service Manager at Gulfport High School before retiring in 2024. Clairdene accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Word of Power in Gulfport, Mississippi. Clairdene was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Herman Sherrod in 2009 in Moss Point, Mississippi.
On Monday, February 24, 2025, Clairdene transitioned from earthly labor to eternal rest. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Clairdene was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Vander Lumpkin Sr. and Mrs. Fannie Mae Lumpkin of Unadilla, Georgia; sister Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lumpkin Smith of Unadilla, Georgia: brothers, Henry Lumpkin of Silver Springs, Florida, and Vander (Rose) Lumpkin Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia.
Left to cherish Clairdene’s memories of love and laughter are her husband Herman Sherrod, daughters, Ms. Sandra (Bernard) Hardy of Atlanta, GA, and Ms. Karen (Antoine) Lumpkin of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Mr. Daniel Lumpkin of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Keith Preston Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Ms. Kayla Hardy of Atlanta, GA and Mr. Jadon Sutton of Gulfport, MS; godson, Mr. Jerron Johnson of Gulfport, MS; best friend Yvette (Charles) Hawkins of Richmond, CA; sisters, Bertha Minor and Mattie Bostic of Unadilla, GA, Mary (Johnnie) Norman of Ft. Myers, FL; brothers, Willie (Lillie) Lumpkin of Unadilla, GA and Albert (Paula) Lumpkin of Vienna, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral services for Clairdene Lumpkin Sherrod will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm and Infinity Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm.
