Claire Gunn Obituary

Claire Arnett Gunn, 96, born in Lanett, Alabama was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Claire was married to John Kenneth Gunn for 53 years, deceased, and is survived by her son John Richard Gunn and his wife Claudette Gunn of Marietta, GA, sister-in-law Hazel (Gunn) Smith of West Point, GA, nieces, Susan Arnett of Garner, N.C., Carol (Arnett) Jacks of Pelham, AL, nephews Phillip Arnett and his wife Mitzi and their son Kevin of Raleigh, N.C, Hugh Arnett of Charlotte, N.C., great nephew, Tom Arnett and his wife April of Alpharetta, GA, and their sons Michael and Joseph, David Arnett and his wife Sharon and their son Xander, nieces Donna (Hudson) Dean and her husband Michael Dean of Norcross, GA, Tracy (Hudson) Spinks and her husband Brian of Lebanon, TN, and great nephew Jonathan Hudson.

Claire attended Lanett High School and worked for West Point Manufacturing for 7 years until she and her husband moved from Lanett, AL to Smyrna, GA in 1955 and immediately began working with Lockheed - Martin Corporation and retired in 1989 after 33 years. Claire attended Green Acres Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA where she held several positions within the church and was loved by so many over many years. Many members of the congregation and community enjoyed her various food dishes, cakes, pies, and especially "Miss Claire's" brownies. She made fleece hats for many years for the homeless during the cold winter months. She was well known and respected and set an example for others in her community and was always helpful and provided comfort to others in need but most of all, every person who knew Claire will remember how she always gave a loving and understanding smile for everyone regardless of life's problems.

Claire was a devoted Christian and always taught her family to follow the teachings and lessons of our Lord and to serve others and set an example to others by becoming a better Christian.

Although our family and friends will miss "Miss Claire" and her loving smile, we will find comfort and peace knowing that she is happy being with the Lord and being reunited with family and loved ones as one day we all shall be.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10 AM in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna, GA located at 2950 King St, Smyrna, GA, 30080. Pastor Iuveni Gutierrez will be performing the services. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by Green Acres Baptist Church.
