Clara Louise (Babcock) Davis Cawthorne, age 84, of Sandy, Utah, passed away March 24, 2026. Clara was born November 12, 1941 in Phoenix, Arizona, to Ross and Wilma (Smith) Babcock. After graduating from Phoenix Union High School, she attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in Music and Education. She married Donald Raye Davis in Tucson in 1962 and had two children with him. She continued her love of singing, was in the Tucson Symphony Chorus, directed the choirs at the Lutheran Churches of Shepherd of the Hills in Tucson, Arizona and Good Shepherd Church in Sandy, Utah, where she and her husband Hugh Cawthorne moved to follow her grandchildren.
Clara was a multi-talented woman. Along with her musical activities, she was able to fix a roof, bake wedding cakes, fly aerobatic airplanes, and maintain her interior design and upholstery business for many years.
Clara is survived by her husband of twenty-two years Hugh Cawthorne, son Brian (Kathleen) Davis, daughter Jennifer Davis (Ian) Giblin and five grandchildren Audrey Davis, Noah Davis, Tinsae Giblin, Jack Giblin and Miles Giblin. Also surviving her are her siblings Carol Babcock Jensen, Ross (Kathy) Babcock and Karen Babcock (Chuck) McDougall. Her sister Wilma Jean Babcock (Mark) Breutzman predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 8575 S 700 E Sandy, Utah, Saturday, April 4, 2026. Before the service, a private interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
