Clara Jane (Fisher) Flatt, 80, of Martinsville, IN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Clara was born August 6, 1944 in Beecher, Illinois to Herman and Phyllis (Wamba) Fisher. She married Glenn Eugene Flatt on October 11, 1969. Together, they had five children. Their twins, Melanie and Michelle, preceded her in death on June 16, 1970.
Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Glenn, of Martinsville - daughter, Kim (Tom) Walls of Martinsville - two sons, Kevin Flatt of Franklin and Mike (Carrie) Flatt of Bloomington. She leaves four grandchildren, Niki and Tommy Walls of Martinsville, Cole and Morgan Flatt of Bloomington, and two great-granddaughters, Stevie and Kollyns. Other survivors include her sisters, Janet Piepho and Bev Moyer, one brother Herman (Nancy) Fisher along with several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Franklin, preceded her in death on August 7, 2015.
Clara and Glenn moved to Indiana in 1974 and raised their family in Trafalgar for over 40 years. Clara was a homemaker and a CNA. They also owned Clara's Cleaning for 15 years, retiring in June 2006. Clara enjoyed reading, attending church, shopping, and caring for her beloved dog, Teddy.
Visitation will be held 10am-11:30am on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at the Emmanuel Church Martinsville Campus, 1396 E Columbus St Martinsville. Pastor Shawn Mason will perform the funeral service immediately after the visitation. She will be laid to rest at the East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown following the service. The family invites you to gather for a meal and celebrate Clara's life at the Masonic Lodge, 1189 E Washington St in Martinsville, following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Robin's Nest Children's Home, an orphanage near and dear to the family's heart (www.robinsnestchiildrenshome.org).
